Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 48 hours of collection.  
 

Specimen Type: Vaginal/rectal

Container/Tube: ESwab Collection and Transport System

Specimen Volume: Adequate amount

Collection Instructions:

1. Follow the instructions for the ESwab Collection and Transport System; a routine culture is taken of the vaginal introitus and anorectum.

2. Transport to the lab within 48 hrs.

Additional Information: Specimen source is required.  Penicillin allergy status required.
