Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Spinal fluid
Container/Tube: Screw-capped, sterile vial
Specimen Volume: 2 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Divide spinal fluid into 4 screw-capped, sterile vials.
2. Label each vial in respective order of collection.
Additional Information: RBC counts will be performed on vials 1 and 4 to differentiate a bleed from a bloody tap. WBC count and differential will be performed on tube 4 only.
